Welcome to our home
Oakton is the oldest continuously occupied residence in Marietta, Georgia. Built in 1838, the origional 325 acre site has been the home to 4 families as well as served Major General Loring's, CSA, as headquarters during the 1864 Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. The original barn, milk house, smoke house and the well house still exist on the remaining 5 acre property. The spectacular gardens include the parterre garden from the 1870's, a kitchen garden, and magnificant Oak trees over 200 years old. Today, Oakton has been beautifully restored, inside and out. Oakton has been featured in The Garden History of Georgia, Southern Living, The Atlanta Journal Constitution , on HGTV's Gardeners Diary (click on link below) , and on the PBS special "Margaret Mitchell : American Rebel".
